Natural Remedies to Get Rid of Blackheads Using Honey
Even though blackheads are small, they seem to be the most stubborn form of pimples. As much as I tried to squeeze, poke and prod they always seemed to return. I had tried all types of beauty creams, face peels, and masks but alas nothing had worked until I took to the kitchen and found a number of home remedies that finally got rid of my blackheads.
They are small bumps on hair follicles. The dark surface caused by blackheads. Blackheads are an unwanted sight for anyone striving to have a clear complexion. They are mostly found around the nose and chin area. Most of the people assume that they are caused by dirt. However, it is the buildup of sebum that causes your hair follicles to clog. It is tempting to squeeze the sebum out. Avoid this at all costs as it could lead to scarring.
We have to know how honey is beneficial for blackhead removal, so here are some of the properties of honey.
Properties:
- Honey acts as an antioxidant and antibacterial agent that helps to cleanse the dirt from clogged pores and thereby reduces blackheads.
- The pH value of the honey lies between 3.2 to 4.4, which is considered very low for blackheads and acne to prevent blackheads.
- It nourishes and moisturizes the skin to give a complete natural shining glow.
- Extracting blackheads becomes much easier as it makes our skin smoother.
- Honey contains deep cleansing properties.
Honey for Blackhead Removal:
- Pour some amount of honey in your hands and gently apply it on your skin, especially on areas affected with blackheads.
- Leave on for 10-15 min and then take a warm, soft towel & scrub your skin gently for 10 min.
- Thoroughly wash your face with the help of warm water and then again with cold water. This helps to close your pores.
NOTE: For better results you can warm the honey.
Honey With Other Ingredient
Honey is one of the great removals on its own, but it can also be used with other ingredients for better results.
Honey and Cinnamon:
Honey and cinnamon are considered as the perfect combination to get rid of blackheads from your skin. Honey contains antibacterial agents that help to clean your clogged pores and thereby remove blackheads. Cinnamon complements honey by improving blood circulation and making the skin smoother and easier for removing blackheads. From hard skin, it will be painful removing blackheads.
Steps to follow:
- Mix one Tsp of honey with one Tsp of cinnamon powder to form a thick paste and apply a thin layer of paste over the blackheads.
- Place clean and dry strips of cotton over the layer of paste and allow it to sit for 5-10 min.
- Now, wash your face with warm water followed by cold water to close the pores on the skin. For better results use a moisturizer afterward.
For better results follow these steps for 10 days continuously.
Honey and Milk:
As we discussed, honey has an antibacterial agent that helps you to clean your clogged pores whereas milk contains lactic acid that helps to keep the skin smooth and soft. With the help of these both components, it acts as a good pair to get rid of blackheads.
Steps to follow:
- Mix one tsp of honey with some amount of milk. By heating this mixture in the microwave for 15-20 seconds to become a paste.
- Now cool down the temperature of the paste and apply a thin layer of paste over the blackheads area.
- Place clean, dry strips of cotton over it on the paste.
- Wait for 15-20 minutes until the paste gets dry.
- Now peel off the strips from the face and wash your face with warm water & rinse with cold water to close the pores on the skin.
For better results follow these steps for 10 days continuously.

Honey and Lemon
- Cut a lemon into half and put 3-4 drops of pure honey on one piece of the lemon.
- Take the lemon piece & rub it on the blackheads area in a circular motion.
- Allow the honey & lemon juice to sit on the blackheads area of the skin for 5-10 minutes.
- Wash off your face with cold water.
- Repeat the same process 3-4 times weekly for better results.
Note: Warming the honey first will produce better results.
Honey and Egg White
- Add 1 teaspoon of honey with an egg-white and whisk it thoroughly and apply the mixture on the blackheads area.
- Take a soft, clean, wet towel & gently rub the towel on the blackheads area using small, circular motions.
- Rub it gently for at least 15-20 minutes and then wash off your face.
- Repeat the same procedure 3-4 times weekly for effective results.
Honey with Apples, Mint, and Cornmeal
- Peel and slice an apple into small piece and place in a blender with a pinch of chopped mint and one tsp of cornmeal. Pulverize the mixture.
- Now warm a tsp of honey & add it to the mixture until all ingredients are mixed.
- Apply the mixture on the area of blackheads and leave on until it dries completely about 10-15 minutes.
- Wash off your face with warm water.
Follow the same procedure 3-4 times a week for better results.
Honey and Almonds
- Crush a full tsp of almonds into small pieces and mix it with pure honey to form a fine paste.
- Apply the fine paste on the blackheads area.
- Leave it for 15-20 min until it gets dry.
- Wash off your face with warm water.
Repeat the process 2-3 times a week for effective results.
Honey and Salt
- Take a pinch of salt & mix it with a tsp of honey to form a fine paste.
- Scrub the fine paste on the affected areas gently.
- Leave it for 15-20 minutes.
- Wash your face with cold water.
